A blog is like an online diary where you can share your writing and images. Think of it as your own space on the Internet where you can self-publish your thoughts and ideas, without having to seek the approval of an editor! In simple terms it’s a website or webpage that allows you to add your own content.
The term blog comes from the words ‘web’ and ‘log’, because in their early iterations blogs were often called ‘weblogs’. There are over 180 million blogs on the web today with thousands added every day.
A blog is written in an informal and conversational style. It’s updated frequently and blogs appear in reverse chronological order as they are published with the newest always appearing at the top of the page.
Blog topics vary. Many people set up blogs just as a creative outlet to share a passion for something like cars, fashion, travel or photography, but a blog is also an opportunity for business owners to publish their own content on their website.
A business blog is a great way for a business to establish their authority in their field, share their ideas and add fresh content to their website on a regular basis, which improves the website’s visibility in search engines.
Your blog can be an annex to your business website and have its own tab, or it could be a standalone website of its own.
